Since he last took the stage at Butcher Auditorium in 2005, MACA audiences have been demanding an encore performance by “the world’s best young Elvis.” Travis LeDoyt has earned this accolade for four good reasons: 1) He looks like Elvis; 2) He sings like Elvis; 3) He moves like Elvis; 4) His personality and mannerisms both onstage and off are strikingly similar to Elvis. Kathy Mattea, the beloved, Grammy-winning singer, says that her new album, COAL, offered her a “re-education” in singing. The songs on COAL, are more than just mining songs. Mattea says she wanted to pay tribute to “my place and my people” on a record that is as much a textured novel as it is an album. Mattea has won numerous awards for her music, including Country Music Association awards as Female Vocalist of the Year (twice), Song of the Year, Video of the Year; and Grammys for Best Country Performance/Female, and Best Southern Gospel. Mattea will perform songs from her latest album, as well as classic favorites.
